If you want to share a post from elsewhere in the Kinja-verse, make a new post here about it and link to the original post. Many people here don’t have commenting privileges on other blogs, so if you want to discuss it just make a post on Oppo with a few words of your own, and include a link to the original post. Direct shares are usually frowned upon since it doesn’t further the conversation.

(wich im reasonably sure is coz bored me gets very post happy once the weekend rolls around and i can has beers.... no telling what horrors i might inflict upon this place if i wasnt confined to commenting on other peoples posts:P)

I agree. I brought it up because I saw something get cross-posted and promptly removed. I was hoping to get in front of the issue before it becomes one of those days where something gets shared and unshared a dozen times.

Isn’t our official rule to only share this way, after some shitsharing happened a while ago? I thought it was because there’s nothing saying who shared something.

It’s spelled out in the link that HHFP put in his comment. Not knowing who shared it is part of the problem. Not being able to comment on it is another part. If someone cross-posts from Deadspin, I can’t even comment on it because I’m in the grays over there.
If it’s worth sharing here, it’s worth putting the link in a new, Oppo based post so that we can discuss it here.
